8/8/2008 College Students Rank Peace Corps as an Ideal Employer
The Peace Corps has been formally recognized by undergraduate college students as the #8 Most Ideal Employer to meet their career goals. The 2008 results are based upon a survey conducted by UNIVERSUM Communications, which gathered student’s perceptions of companies and expectations upon entering the working world. The feedback from 44,064 U.S. undergraduates was recently published in BusinessWeek. Peace Corps ranked #8, just behind Google, Disney, Apple and U.S. Department of State.

8/8/2008 AmeriCorps Awards $2.2 Million to Eight Organizations
The Corporation for National and Community Service today announced results of its final 2008 grants competition, with more than $2.2 million being awarded to eight organizations funding 230 new AmeriCorps members to help communities provide healthy and educational environments for children, as well as support Midwest disaster response and recovery.

8/8/2008 First Class of AmeriCorps NCCC Members To Be Inducted at Iowa Campus
The first class of members to serve at the newest National Civilian Community Corps campus will be inducted during an 11 a.m. ceremony on August 11. David Eisner, CEO of the Corporation for National and Community Service, which oversees NCCC and other AmeriCorps programs, will be on hand for the event, as will Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa. Also attending will be Merlene Mazyck, director of NCCC.

7/18/2008 Peace Corps Rwanda Reopens
U.S. Ambassador Michael Arietti and Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Rwanda Amandin Rugira signed an agreement officially re-establishing the U.S. Peace Corps program in Rwanda today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

7/7/2008 New Partnership Launched to Connect New Americans with Outdoor Volunteer and Recreation Activities
USA Freedom Corps, American Recreation Coalition and the Homeland Security Task Force on New Americans today announced a new public-private partnership, This Land is Your Land, to engage more new Americans in volunteer and recreation opportunities, particularly in the great outdoors. A partnership convened by USA Freedom Corps, This Land Is Your Land mobilizes the resources and outreach efforts of government and the private sector to encourage new Americans to take pride in their country by engaging in volunteer service.
